Report from Ding, local team member

On 24 November 2013, Dr. Edita Miguel, Executive Director of Agape Rural (Health) Program, wrote to us to say that Inamok, Samar is 95% destroyed. This village used to have a population of 3,000 people. Because of Typhoon Haiyan, 95% of the homes in the village was destroyed, 56 were either dead or missing.

Ding Miguel wrote to say that together with the other members of the GAiN-ARP Medical Team, they traveled by land and sea to reach the village of Inamok, an Island Barangay of Basey Samar.

They were the first medical team to reach this village since the big typhoon. They were able to treat 241 patients, most of whom were with infected wounds and respiratory tract infection. The medical team also gave them anti-tetanus shots.

There were triplets (see photo below) who survived Typhoon Haiyan. They saw the big waves coming from the sea. They were caught in the waves but they miraculously survived through the help of the their father.

Another survivor called out to God to help her as she was carried by the waves. She held on to a piece of wood as the water kept rising with the big waves carrying mud and various debris. She was able to survive the ordeal.
